Ganick Joins IWF to Train Female Executives

The International Women's Forum has named longtime broadcast personality and advertising executive, Elaine Ganick, to the Executive Development Roundtable. The Roundtable event, held in Bentonville, Arkansas, will feature Ganick and several other prestigious businesswomen as seminar presenters and leadership mentors at a training conference for 50 of Wal-Mart's top female executives.

Ganick, president and CEO of Ganick Communications, a full service marketing and communications firm, will join co-presenter, Carol Fitzwilliam, president, Fitzwilliam Legal Recruitment Inc., in presenting a session on forming and sustaining networks.

“Business is not necessarily about how good you are or how unique you are,” Ganick said. “It's about who you know and what they know about you.”

“In order to be a great networker, you have to make a commitment to help other people and expect nothing in return,” said Ganick, who is also a former Nashville TV talk show host and television news anchor. “Building relationships is the pay-off, or the return in itself, and even if there is no business benefit, the networker will still benefit from the relationship itself.”

The June Roundtable, held near Wal-Mart's Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters, will also feature speakers including best-selling author Kitty Kelly, Denise Morrison, president of Global Sales for Campbell Soup Company; Susan King, vice-president, Public Affairs, for the Carnegie Corporation of New York; Barbara Barrett, chair, US Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, and several others. In six different sessions members of the Roundtable will offer a wide variety of leadership lessons on topics from managing diversity and inspiring others to personal growth and leadership development.

IWF is an organization that advances women's leadership opportunities through its chapters in 21 countries and on five continents. Ganick, who has previously served as Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Tennessee Chapter, is now on the President's Council of the International Women's Forum. As a newly named member of IWF's Executive Development Roundtable, she will participate in a variety of upcoming events that provide training to women executives around the world.

“The International Women's Forum provides a unique opportunity for women leaders to network with one another and examine the most vital issues women face in the global marketplace,” Ganick said. “And on a personal level, IWF also gives women from diverse backgrounds and cultures a way to interact with one another. I believe that, in the end, sophisticated technology and instantaneous information are no substitute for this kind of personal communication.”
